For the last several weeks, I have been working on a secret project. Sshhh, you can't tell anyone, especially not Goen. It's a surprise for him. I wrote a book called A Bicycle for Brother and I am in the process of illustrating it into a blank board book. I bought several sizes from the Bare Books website. But for my first foray into writing and illustrating, I went with the smallest, a 5" x 5" book. Actually, I used two books that I put together using an ingenious method (when it's all done I'll post a tutorial on that process). I'm so excited to finally be a (self) published author. There is something so satisfying about it. Here is a quick peek into the pages of my book. I'm just over half done with it, and hoping to finish it before Christmas. And don't worry. This isn't one of those Disney-esque stories where there is only one parent. The papa comes in before the end. I'm using things and people around me for inspiration, so, naturally, people keep asking if the book is based on real life and if Goen will be getting a brother soon. At this point there is no brother in the works. Just chalk it up to creative license.
