This is a different park than usual, one farther from our house, but the grounds are perfect for photography. And, with my 50mm lens out of commission (except for close up stuff), it was a good opportunity to practice with the standard 18-55mm lens that came with the camera. Although it's not my favorite lens, in bright light it can be fun to use.
Don't you just love the outfit? Stripes with stripes are totally in. Oh, and the hat he's wearing is the one I made several months ago. The weather is finally starting to get chilly enough to need a warmer hat (in the mornings and evenings at least). Hmm, isn't that the same skirt I wear in half of the pictures I've posted of myself? I guess I do wear it a lot. I can't help it. It was supposed to be a practice skirt for a new pattern I bought but has become a staple of my wardrobe. It's super comfortable and billows when I spin (yes, I like to spin sometimes).
I took the opportunity to catch up on my promise to get myself back in the picture. I know, the professionals always tell you not to shoot up your nose. It's just that I really like my ears and that was the only angle I could get that showed them off the way I wanted (I might be just a little vain about my ears). I tried to get some pictures using the self-timer, but somebody decided that two seconds was all anyone needed. The result was that I couldn't get into the shot in time. The easy fix was to use the remote. Goen thought it was so funny that the camera was making noise from all the way over there and wanted to press the button, too. I think I'm getting the hang of that lens. Even so, I miss my 50mm. I hope I can get it fixed soon.
