March is a special month. On the 28th we will be celebrating my son's second birthday! It feels so strange to be mama to a toddler. Every time I get used to the way he is at one point in his development, he grows and changes. It's the constant challenge of parenthood I suppose. Last year, for Goen's first birthday, I made several things to provide a festive atmosphere for his party. The first was crocheted garlands to hang over the table and along the walls (the same ones I have for sale in my Etsy shop). The second was a cardboard bunting-style banner that says "Happy Birthday Goen" in big block letters. The third and most special thing was a felt birthday crown with beautifully-detailed embroidery. All these gifts I made for him are meant to be used year after year, accumulating memories along the way. The crown, though, will gain more than just memories. I designed it so that the tree at the front of the crown will get a new leaf as each birthday approaches. In just a few weeks I will stitch on the second leaf. It's a milestone I hope you will celebrate with me. To help start the festivities, I will be offering a free download of my crown pattern until the end of the month. Click the two buttons at the bottom of the post to download pdf files for the template and instructions. At the beginning of April I will be adding these to my Etsy shop with additional embroidery designs that I'm creating right now. If you make a crown, I do hope you'll share some pictures by leaving a link in the comments.
Happy Stitching!
Update: Although the free giveaway has ended, you can find the pattern for sale in my Etsy shop.
